On a beautiful summer day, August 21, 2009, my husband and I arrived in Lake Arrowhead, Georgia. A lovely community situated in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We were ecstatic to have escaped the scorching heat of Miami and were enjoying the breathtaking views and pleasant weather. As we breathed in the fresh mountain air, we felt grateful for the new beginning that lay ahead of us.
The desire to write this blog stems from the thought that sharing my encounters will prompt others to leave their comments or tell their own experiences and that by sharing our struggles we could find solutions.I firmly believe that it is important to lay bare the challenges a degenerative illness brings to those affected —as well as to their families.
